A Modena court has confirmed that sabotage against Ferrari did take place prior to last year's Monaco Grand Prix. The development is the latest in the protracted scandal of 2007, involving accused saboteur and spy Nigel Stepney. British engineer Stepney, who was sacked by Ferrari, was named by the Modena magistrate as most likely to have instigated the sabotage, which involved placing white powder in the fuel tanks of the Monaco-bound F2007 cars.

Yet the California looks good as a coupŠ¹, too, with just the few joins in the upper metalwork to give the dual-purpose game away. It's truly two cars in one, and a rousing drive in either guise. There were those who didn't believe this would be the case, the same purists who thought the California ugly when the first pictures were released and feared it was a feminised Ferrari with the sharp edges and the perceived need for skill removed.

New York is more straight forward, though they do bring a rusher off the slot occasionally and do some zone blitzes. But mainly they like to get it done with their defensive front. Although they started a little slow on defense, the Giants really came on in the second half. What impresses me about the Giants is what a tough team mentally they are. They are battle-tested and everything you would expect from the top team in the NFC East.

England had the XKE. Germany, the 911 and the 230 SL. In Italy, Ferrari introduced the stunning 275 GTB, and here in the States, we had Cobras and big-block Vettes. But back in 1965, there wasn't much automotive excitement coming out of the Land of the Rising Sun. Then someone at Toyota had an epiphany: If we want the world to know that we can make great sports cars, let's build one for the Tokyo Motor Show that'll knock their socks off. That car was the 2000GT, and socks went flying.

One final qualification: We fudged a little. This isn't precisely a top ten list of the most expensive cars. That would basically be a bunch of Bentleys and Rolls-Royces and only a few other makes. So instead we picked the highest-dollar cars of each of ten carmakers, so no manufacturer got two slots. After all, even if you could afford a garage full of Rolls, you'd probably like to have a Ferrari or Lamborghini, too.

Hamilton's display suggested as much, but the argument to the contrary was the pathetic performance of Heikki Kovalainen in the sister McLaren. Was Hamilton very good or was Heikki very bad? The truth is probably - as it generally is - somewhere in the middle. The McLaren is not necessarily a faster car than the Ferrari but Hamilton was at the peak of his powers this weekend and out-drove every one of his competitors in a piece of machinery flattered by the circuit's characteristics.

The Japanese racetrack opens its doors again to an international event, thirteeen years after the 1995 Formula One Pacific Grand Prix. The venue was known at the time as Aida Tanaka International Circuit and hosted the Pacific Formula One Grand Prix twice in 1994 and 1995, Michael Schumacher won both races in the Benetton car. Chevrolet s Nicola Larini is the only WTCC driver who took part in one of those Grand Prix.

Since the Fuji weekend, both Felipe and Kimi have been in Tokyo for a couple of days relaxation and Wednesday, they will arrive in Shanghai. This Friday will be a special day for our Finnish driver, as the reigning world champion turns twenty nine. The day before, the Mint Club in Shanghai hosts the Chinese launch of the new California road car and for the third of these events, after those in Singapore and Tokyo, both drivers will again be in attendance.

Adam Carroll and Niall Quinn enjoyed a successful test for A1 Team Ireland at the Silverstone National Circuit yesterday, Carroll setting the fastest time in the 6 car test with a lap of 45.554s to head the reigning A1GP World Cup of Motorsport Champions Team Switzerland by 0.15s. Team France s Nicholas Prost, son of four times World Champion Alain Prost, was third.

Kovalainen. Usual role. The only problem for Lewis is the fact that throughout the season most of those cars have been slower than him all season and it is unlikely that Hamilton will have to struggle to overtake them. Leaving him alone against a grid of cars that aren't his best friends at the moment. However, I think the chances of Hamilton and Massa slipping up are very, very slim. Although Hamilton is on his second engine, the McLaren has an excellent reliability record.

A drawback for Ferrari is that their car was considerably slower than the McLarens in China after being lightning quick in Japan the week before, a problem they need to fix ahead of Brazil.

The test gave Adam Carroll the opportunity to shake down the car prior to it being shipped to Chengdu, China, for the second round of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport series scheduled for November 7th-9th. For Niall Quinn this was his long-awaited first test in the A1GP 'Powered by Ferrari' car, the 20 year old from Dunboyne quickly acclimatising to the new 600bhp Ferrari V8 engine, chassis and Michelin tyres.
