Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali is optimistic that FIA president Max Mosley will support the teams' ideas for cost-cutting measures in their crunch meeting in Geneva on Tuesday. The Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA) is sending Ferrari's Luca di Montezemolo and Toyota's John Howett, to Geneva to meet with FIA President Max Mosley to discuss ways to make F1 more cost-effective. The teams has several lengthy meetings in Shanghai to discuss the proposals they will put forward to Mosley and, basically they ignored the FIA announcement of a tender for a sole engine supplier.

FIA president Max Mosley is looking to cut the spiralling costs of competing in F1 and has proposed the introduction of a standard power unit. However, many of the car manufacturers competing in F1, such as Honda, BMW, Renault and McLaren are opposed to the idea, with Howett warning that it may result in Toyota quitting the sport. "If the FIA will introduce a standard engine that will be plenty of reason for Toyota to exit Formula One," he reportedly told the German media.

Turin - Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has said he was pleased by a meeting with F1's governing body on future cost-cutting measures. Montezemolo, who is also Formula One Teams Association (FOTA) president, met International Automobile Federation (FIA) boss Max Mosley and Toyota's John Howett in Geneva on Tuesday. "Finally we will have an economical Formula One," Montezemolo told Wednesday's Gazzetta dello Sport .
