FIA President Max Mosley last week sent a letter to FOTA proposing sweeping cost cutting changes. Some of the suggestions, including standard engines from 2010, all-new concept power units from 2013 and more standard parts - including suspension, wheels and underbodies, were not received too well by some manufacturers.

There were no details of the deal but it has since emerged that the meeting managed to get agreement on a number of key points. The engine life will be increased from two to three races in 2009 and in order to help the smaller teams manufacturers must be prepared to supply 25 engines to a customer team, at a cost of 10m Euros ($13.2m). This will significantly reduce the cost of customer engine for the smaller teams.

The Canadian GP was also dropped, meaning that there will not be a race in North America in 2009. It is unlikely, though, that this will remain the case as the event in Montreal was very popular. Meanwhile, the US is looking for a suitable replacement for Indianapolis, possibly a street race. Both races could be back within two years as the continent is a huge market for the sport.

The diesel sedan and wagon with automatic are eighth at 29 city40 highway. It comes as little surprise that many exotic cars received sub-par rankings. The 2009 Bentley Azure gets 9 mpg in city driving and 15 mpg on the highway and has an annual fuel cost of $5,863.
